On November 4th, we would like to invite you to be our guest at Big Orbit, a CEPA Gallery project space, as we explore real appendages worn by citizens and unveil some of the new technologies in appendage design. Through expanded testing and screenings we have been able to more aptly determine each person’s encumbrance and properly enforce larger burdens on those deemed to carry it. Come witness Big Orbit Project Space be transformed into an alternate universe that draws upon the dystopian sci-fi of Ray Bradbury, George Orwell, and Anthony Burgess, while also nodding to the cinematic tradition born out of this literary genre. This multi-disciplinary installation, bordering on immersive theatre, marks an important advancement in the artistic practice of Buffalo-born artist Zack Boehler. Starlight’s public gallery features exhibits by the artists of Starlight Studio as well other artists. Starlight is a vibrant art studio located in downtown Buffalo that supports adults with disabilities in their artistic development. CEPA Gallery’s other public art projects include a Meditative EnergyGarden unveiled in August, and Full Circle, a twist on the typical swing-set, which was unveiled last week on October 25th. Once completed, the mammoth will be installed in a vacant parcel on Helen Street. Daley will help fabricate the mammoth, made of light weight foam with a concrete outer shell, with Lobley on site.” Lobley has rendered a prehistoric Woolly Mammoth to be realized in full-scale with realistic texture and color.
